Löyly and ideas for terrace

Just before midsummer we enjoyed an evening at Löyly. It was a good place to chill out, enjoy drinks and food.  Both indoors or outdoors. Naturally I took some ideas for terrace.

Sundeck was huge and it's divided into three levels. Löyly word means hot steam that evaporates when water is thrown on the heater. That's what it's all about. Saunas are a definate must-experience, especially smoke sauna. Before this I had been in smoke sauna just four times. Just remember to book sauna in advance and take swimsuit or speedos with you. In restaurant check wood material used in indoor restaurant tables and sofa frames. It's a domestic innovation.

All photos-except first and last were taken at 10 pm. Can you imagine?

Wood is assembled on a steel base. Wood will turn grey within few years.

Löyly silhouette looked airy. Partly because of glass used here and there.

Graphite terrace chairs and tables from Emu and sofas from Andrew World. I think I'll steal this idea. Indoors sauna section and shower section repeated same graphite+wood colour palette. Interior and outdoor designer was Joanna Laajisto Creative Studio.

Next some photos about finished terrace....

Peek at terrace decking -Terassi uritetusta Siperian lehtikuusesta

Terrace decking is almost finished and summer cottage has its new stairs to waterfront.

Siberian larch seems to be what we were expecting for terrace decking. Antislip surface definately seems to be what it promises. Goodie, goodie! I was bit worried about this material because you rarely see any decking pictures with wavy surface. Wavy surface should keep small sticks from larch away better, but time will tell.

We're not planning to oil the surface since we want to have graphite colour. Eventually decking will have the same colour as our plinth/footing. We made four different piles for wood material and carefully selected places for boards. In the next post I'll share more pictures about terrace decking and summer cottage stairs..Maybe I'll also share some thoughts about materials and tools, lets see.

This mouse was not so happy about tearing everything down.

Under construction. Makita tools (18V) were really worth every cent. Highly recommended (!)

As you can see, wood is a bit reddish here and there. Wavy surface feels comfortable under bare feet.

Siberian larch seemed to begin colour changing almost immediately, as many wood materials do.In the centre of this picture was a piece of board-just for few days.

More to come! Have a good week!
